Until the end of 2021, Russian law enforcementauthorities plan to develop a mechanism for withdrawing digital currency. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Justice, the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General’s Office take part in the development of this mechanism, the RBC agency reports.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has already confirmed the information received from the media. Let us remember that in early November it was reported that law enforcement officers were considering options for seizing cryptocurrency from individuals and legal entities.

First of all, this applies to cryptocurrency funds held by criminal structures or related companies and individuals.

This week it became known that by the end of 2021, relevant legislative amendments will be prepared. Executive authorities will prepare amendments together with the Supreme Court.

Many State Duma deputies support the initiativeto amend the legislation in order to empower law enforcement authorities to seize tokens. They proposed equating the seizure of cryptocurrency with the confiscation of property.
