Two Ukrainians face 6 years in prison for creating a digital exchanger

The cyber police of Ukraine "closed" a website for the exchange of cryptocurrency of some electronic ones banned in the countrycurrencies.

Two enterprising residents of Khmelnitsky have created a web resource with the ability to exchange the national hryvnia for cryptocurrency and a number of electronic currencies prohibited in the country.

In particular, the service provided services for the withdrawal, exchange, sale and purchase of electronic money banned in Ukraine since 2018 - Yandex.Money and Webmoney.

The police managed to track down a number of illegaltransfers for which the exchanger operators used bank accounts and various payment systems. The details of how the online exchanger works were not disclosed.

At the address of residence of 35 and 45 year old defendants in the case, computer equipment, smartphones and bank cards of the suspects were confiscated and sent for examination.

A criminal case was initiated on the fact of violation of the norms of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and  a pre-trial investigation was initiated.The suspects face up to six years in prison if proven guilty under Articles 209 and 200 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
