Ethereum Classic has reorganized 3693 blocks

On August 1, 3,693 blocks were sequentially reorganized in the Ethereum Classic blockchain, which led to the termination of their synchronization.

First noticed suspicious activitythe mining company Bitfly, which promptly notified the crypto community of this and recommended that exchanges freeze the input and output of ETC due to suspicions of a 51% attack. Later, changes in the blockchain were also confirmed by the development team and official representatives of the platform itself.

According to ETC Labs CEO Terry Culver, the reorganization is notwas malicious and happened by accident, due to the fact that one of the miners temporarily lost access to the Internet.

Immediately after identifying changes, Bitflyproposed to take measures to counter potential hackers, since exactly a year ago a team of researchers recorded the reorganization of 100 blocks in order to double spend 88.5 thousand ETC in the amount of $450 thousand.
