Adam Back: Nobody knows exactly who Satoshi Nakamoto is

In the latest episode of the Unchained podcast, Hashcash creator and Blockstream CEO Adam Back noted thatthe real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto is unknown.

«I mean, no one knows who Satoshi is or how he came up with this idea.».

Beck revealed that he learned about Bitcoin in August 2008, two months before the mysterious creator posted the coin's iconic white pages:

«I found out about this around August 2008. I received an email from Satoshi Nakamoto with an annotation and a request to provide the correct link for Hashcash».

Back claims that he sent the elusive Bitcoin creator a couple of quotes from other articles published by cypherpunk Wei Dai back in 1998.

Then he carefully studied bitcoin from experience nowthe late computer genius Hal Finney, who sent the first Bitcoin transaction. In 2019, cypherpunk expressed the opinion that Satoshi was most likely one person, contrary to the popular version that several people worked on bitcoin.

This year, after the publication of the typedThe popularity of the video posted by YouTube channel Barely Social, Baek himself became one of the candidates for the role of Satoshi Nakamoto. Despite some circumstantial evidence, such as British spelling, knowledge of C ++, double spacing, and a move to Malta, Beck vehemently dismissed this guess.

During a conversation with Unchained host Laura Sheen and crypto pioneer David Chaum, Back also listed improvements that he would like to see in Bitcoin in the future, such as privacy.

Back proposed implementing confidential transactions that would reduce the size of a BTC transaction while still making it available for public audit.
