Yuriy Chikhanchin: "The use of cryptocurrencies for international payments is acceptable"

​​Director of Rosfinmonitoring YuriChikhanchin said that the department fully allows the use of cryptocurrencies for settlements with foreign suppliers, but such payments are prohibited in Russia.

During the "government hour" in the CouncilFederation Chikhanchin emphasized that the use of digital assets for settlements and payments in Russia is prohibited by law. However, under certain conditions, such payments can be used on the international market. In particular, this can help in the development of companies exporting their products abroad.

“If the supply chain is controlled, then this is completely acceptable,” said the director of Rosfinmonitoring.

Therefore, companies need to clearlyunderstand with whom exactly digital currencies are being exchanged. Chikhanchin also emphasized that the department has developed and has already launched an information system for tracking cryptocurrency transactions. It allows you to determine both the sender and the recipient of funds. The test results were positive and even “real criminal cases were opened.”

Recently, State Duma deputies finally adopted a law banning payment for goods and services with digital financial assets and utilitarian digital rights in the Russian Federation.
