White House refuses to talk about $5.2 million donation from Bankman-Fried

The White House press secretary refused to answer a reporter's questions about whether the US president would return the $5.2 million that the FTX founder donated to his election campaign.

AP correspondent Zeke Miller said:

“Is the President calling on all politicians who received campaign contributions, likely from investments by FTX clients, to return that money?”

In response, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that under the Hatch Act she could not disclose this information.

White House Spokespersonadded that only the Democratic National Committee (DNC) can comment on all issues related to political donations. Refusing to be persuaded by the journalist, the press secretary said that she could not even talk about the opinion of the US President on the issue of donations from Sam Bankman-Fried.

Bankman-Fried's donations to Democrats could have been even larger, but in October the FTX founder refused to donate $1 billion to the US elections.
