Miners must use Russian equipment for mining cryptocurrencies, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation proposed at the legislative level to oblige the use of Russian as a prioritycryptocurrency mining equipmentterritory of Russia. “In order to level the risks of informationsecurity, it is proposed to establish a legislative requirement for the predominant use of Russian hardware and software systems, radio-electronic products and software, if they are available and available on the market, for industrial production (“mining”) in the territory of the Russian Federation of cryptocurrency assets,” the document says.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade responded to a package of proposals forregulation of the cryptocurrency market in the Russian Federation, compiled by Gorelkin following the results of the March round table. The ministry considers Gorelkin's proposals "relevant and supports the party's initiative to work with them."

"Approaches to the regulation of the release and circulationdigital currencies in the Russian Federation are currently recognized as relevant and are being discussed by the Bank of Russia with interested federal executive authorities, including the Russian Ministry of Finance, Rosfinmonitoring, the Russian Federal Tax Service, the Russian Federal Security Service, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office,” the minister added.
