An HCR Law lawyer described how a criminal received a claim in the form of an NFT stating that the assets he stole from a user and located on Huobi were frozen.

British lawyer Steven MurrayMurray) noted that this is the third case in judicial practice when “a statement of claim in the form of an NFT is sent to the operator of a crypto wallet and redirected to the defendant’s wallet”:

“Thus, with full compliance with all formalities, within a couple of weeks, 100% of the bitcoins stolen from him were returned to the user in the amount of 1.85 million pounds sterling ($2.1 million).”

Murray explained that, according to the law, the plaintiff,whose cryptocurrency was stolen must send a statement to the defendant, that is, the hacker, that he is filing a lawsuit to freeze the stolen cryptocurrency. Thus giving the defendant the opportunity to defend his rights in court.

Traditionally, the claim is sent electronically.mail. In the case of a hacker, only the address of his crypto wallet is known.
