IMF: cryptocurrencies are the next step in the evolution of money

An old two-minute video from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) about cryptocurrency is gaining popularity andactively discussed on social networks.

The educational video about cryptocurrency was firstpublished back in June 2018. In this video, the IMF argued that cryptocurrencies could be the next step in the evolution of money. On August 23, the training video appeared on the network again.

The number of views quickly exceeded 137,000 and the video received almost 3,000 likes. However, many users and experts believe that "almost everything is wrong" in the IMF video.

The crypto community notes that no discussionregarding mining or offering coins in the tutorial material is not kept. The main terms are not mentioned: decentralization, blockchain or the name of cryptocurrencies. The IMF representative talks about the various advantages of cryptocurrency over fiat currency, however, according to the crypto community, the focus is on the risks associated with cryptocurrency. Many users were quite critical of the video and noted that the IMF told only about the history of the cryptocurrency and mentioned the shortcomings.

Among the advantages in the video are noted fastertransaction processing time, lower fees and greater security of sensitive data. However, although the video claims that “it is almost impossible to deceive the system”, the risks associated with high volatility, the possibility of losing the password and the anonymity of the transaction are immediately voiced.

Most of the users indicated that they would like to learn more about cryptocurrency as a hedging tool and get more specific information about the technology.
