FTX management demanded that American politicians return donations

FTX Group sent letters to politicians in the United States demanding the return of tens of millions of dollars that they received from the cryptocurrency exchange as donations by February 28.

FTX representatives are sending messages to everyone who was once supported with money by the ex-head of the exchange, Sam Bankman-Fried.

“If such payments are not voluntarily returned, FTX reserves the right to file an action in bankruptcy court to seek their return,”
says in the letter.

According to reports in the American media, the amount could be $93 million.

Some recipients have already returned their donationsor have declared their intention to do so. For example, members of the Democratic Party allocated more than $1 million for this back in December. However, there are also politicians who said that they had already donated to charity. In response, FTX warned that their lawyers would do everything to return the funds.

“Recipients are warned that paymentsor donations to a third party (including to charity) will not prevent creditors from seeking compensation from the recipient of the donations or any other assignee,” FTX threatens.

As part of the investigation into the collapse of FTX, prosecutorsThe United States has charged Bankman-Fried with eight felonies that include wire fraud, conspiracy to commit commodity and securities fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering and campaign finance violations. The former head of FTX does not admit guilt.
