Danish Supreme Court: Profits from the sale and mining of BTC should be taxed

The Danish Supreme Court ruled thatany activity related to investment and circulation of Bitcoin is speculative in nature and is subject to the tax laws of the country.

The court emphasized that transactions with BTC,received by citizens as a result of “turnover in non-commercial enterprises,” as a gift or through mining, “give rise to tax obligations.”

Thus, the highest courtupheld the decisions of the country's lower courts. The agency representative added that Danish citizens wishing to invest in digital currencies should understand the potential risks of such investments and make informed decisions.

In March, the US Treasury Department releasedbudget replenishment plans for 2024 and announced its intention to introduce a 30% excise tax on the use of electricity for cryptocurrency mining operations.
