The Bank of Russia believes that the launch of a national digital currency will help improve workfinancial system.
As the deputy head of the Central Bank Olga Skorobogatova noted, the crypto-ruble will help increase the availability of banking services for both ordinary citizens and businesses.
The main advantage of the innovative toolthere will be a reduction in transaction costs. The crypto-ruble will be absolutely the same comfortable and safe means of payment as cash, the deputy chairman of the Bank of Russia said in an interview with Kommersant.
She emphasized:
«The citizen himself will choose in what form of the ruble he will pay. All three forms of money [cash, non-cash and digital] will be used without any restrictions.
Russian banks will serve crypto walletsfor storing tokens, the regulator does not plan to introduce any transaction limits. Storage services for the digital ruble will be provided by both large and medium-sized banks.
There will be competition in the market, and citizens will be able to independently choose a bank that provides the most optimal service conditions, the official said.
