The US Treasury has sanctioned the Chatex exchange for creating favorable conditions for"Financial transactions of cybercriminals".
According to the ministry, most of Chatex's transactions are related to illegal activities.
Officials said the exchange has “direct ties” to Suex – Russian portal, which was subject to sanctions in September.
According to the investigation, over the past three years, about $ 77.5 million passed through Chatex, among which more than $ 17 million were associated with the illegal activities of darknet marketplaces, scams and ransomware.
Chatext officially suspended itsactivities for an indefinite period of legal proceedings. User funds are seized and cannot be withdrawn from accounts. At the same time, the team assures users of their safety.
