Binance blocked a user account from the Russian Federation at the request of the Ukrainian police

A trader under the nickname Alex OPG reported that one of his accounts on the Binance cryptocurrency exchange was blocked on January 7allegedly at the request of the Ukrainian police. The user cannot access the account and, accordingly, the withdrawal of funds.

The client is a citizen of the Russian Federation and does not conduct anyactivities in Ukraine. A possible reason for the blocking, he calls the receipt on his account of USDT, which he acquired at the end of December from a friend. By the way, the seller’s account was also blocked.

"I re-identified my identity and they just wrote to me: 'Wait 30 days until it will beI was not asked about the origin of the money in the account, although it is not difficult for me to explain.The Ukrainian police don't get in touch with me,"- said the trader.

A number of users also reported about such locks, which were not connected, however, with the request of the Ukrainian police.

Binance representatives confirmed the authenticity of the letter.

"The letter was sent by our support service.The reason is a request from law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.Proceedings are ongoing."— Gleb Kostarev, the official representative of the Binance exchange in the Russian Federation, said in a comment to ForkLog.

He added that users will be notified by the support service about further steps of the exchange.

Recall that in December Binance blocked a withdrawal of funds to Wasabi wallets to one of the users, later explaining this by conducting an investigation due to the activation of the risk control mechanism.
