Xiaomi has developed a new fast charging system that replenishes smartphone battery power from 0 to 100% in 8 minutes.
A technology called Hypercharge delivers 200W of charging power via cable and 120W wirelessly.
The demo video shows that the systemstarts at low power, gradually ramps up, and reaches its maximum value only when the battery has received 22% of the energy after about 1.5 minutes. The intensity starts to decrease after 3 minutes, when the phone is already half charged. It takes 5 minutes to fill the remaining 50%.
The wireless system works according to a similar algorithm, but due to the lower power, the charging process slows down, during 100% replenishment the battery increases to 15 minutes.
It should be understood that the video showslaboratory tests, not a demonstration of a serial model of a smartphone. So far, the company has only announced that it has achieved record performance of charging systems, although it is possible that it will introduce Hypercharge into its products in the near future.
Despite the intriguing demo, Xiaomi did notclarified how the new system reduces the effective life of the lithium-ion battery, which will become very hot under such intense load.
Earlier, the Chinese manufacturer also announced a wireless charger with a range of several meters.
