Wirex will issue crypto-currency Visa cards in 40 countries

Cryptocurrency service provider Wirex has entered into a long-term agreement with the international payment system Visa, expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region and the United Kingdom.

Thanks to the agreement, London-based Wirex, which already has more than five million customers, will now be able toissue Visa debit cards with support for cryptocurrencies in more than 40 countries.

"Visa wants to provide consumers with more payment options by connecting digital currencies to our system," explained Matt, Head of Digital Partnerships for Visa Asia PacificMatt Wood.

Wirex and Visa have been working together since 2015.According to Wirex, in 2015 it became the first company in the world to develop a bank card that allowed users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies.

In August, an aggregator of decentralized exchanges1inch announced a partnership with  Wirex. Wirex developers have integrated the 1inch platform API so that Wirex users can quickly exchange purchased tokens.
