Chinese digital bank WeBank, in partnership with OpenNodes platform, will provide Singaporean educationalFISCO BCOS platform for exploring blockchain capabilities.

Students from Singapore will take part in the programUniversity of Technology and Design, Nanyang University of Technology and Singapore University of Management. The initiative aims to ensure that Singaporean students use the platform as an “arena” to explore the possibilities of distributed ledger technology (DLT) and its practical application in the field of logistics and finance. One of the conditions for participation in the program is that all developments should be open source.

Executive Vice President and Director ofWeBank’s information technology, Henry Ma, believes that a new generation needs to be trained in creating viable and efficient blockchain-based solutions for the general public. For this, the bank will provide developers with its infrastructure. In addition, WeBank and OpenNodes will hold training conferences and hackathons to raise awareness of how best to work with the platform.

FISCO BCOS Open Source Platformdeveloped by the non-profit consortium Financial Blockchain Shenzhen Consortium (FISCO) for the joint study of the characteristics of the blockchain and DLT, as well as their implementation in various fields of activity. About 20 leading Chinese organizations working in the field of fintech took part in the development of the platform. The platform was introduced in 2016, and after its launch, the number of participants in the FISCO consortium exceeded 100 - they included Tencent, Huawei and WeBank.

Let's remember that last month WeBank announcedintegration of the smart contract language DAML with the FISCO BCOS platform, and in December the bank became the first supplier of technical infrastructure for the international alliance Blockchain-Based Service Network.
