The Waves Enterprise platform presented a solution for automatic electricity metering as part of a pilotthe project of the largest energy company Rosseti, which tests the solutions of various developers.
According to Rosseti, testing is carried out withThe goal is to analyze the capabilities of the blockchain in order to build effective interaction between producers, suppliers and final consumers of electricity. In addition, Rosseti plans to ensure complete transparency of meter readings, calculation of the amount of electricity consumed and payments to form a trusting relationship between the parties. The Rosseti company is confident that the blockchain will help to establish and automate this process.
According to the pilot project manager“Rossetei” by Sergey Semerikov, the first stage of testing has already come to an end. During the first stage, when the contestants were developing solutions, the company already had certain requirements for the system: it should work on a closed blockchain and on the Russian platform, and also meet the requirements for protecting user data. As a result, the company chose five prototypes of solutions that were presented at the international Electric Networks forum in Moscow, and the Waves Enterprise solution was included in this five.
“We managed to develop a fully functionala system integrated with 400 electricity meters in private and multi-apartment residential buildings. We have developed smart contracts for calculating electricity, charging and distributing payments from consumers between electricity producers and energy distribution companies, ”said Waves Enterprise business development director Igor Kuzmichev, adding that the solution includes a blockchain platform, mobile and web application, as well as a gateway for data transfer.
The system works as follows: data from the counter is transferred to the blockchain, while the consumer can monitor the energy consumption using the application in real time, and also choose a more favorable tariff. After the payment is made, the smart contract automatically splits the payment into shares that are due to energy retail companies and electricity producers.
According to Waves Enterprise, a project partnerbecame Alfa Bank, through which payments are made. Director of the Alfa Bank Innovation Development Center Denis Dodon believes that it is Russian developers who will be able to provide the necessary solution with full understanding of what problems need to be addressed in the domestic energy sector.
At the second stage of testing, the Rosseti companywill give developers a technical task for developing a solution, and, based on the results of the work, will select a contractor for automation of electricity metering in Russia. As Waves Enterprise pointed out, several energy distribution companies have already become interested in its development.
It is worth noting that blockchain is being actively implemented indifferent areas of activity in Russia. Let us recall that Waves Enterprise took part in a study of the corporate blockchain ecosystem in Russia together with the analytical company MINDSMITH; the results of the study were published in October.
