Walmart and Litecoin have denied information about cooperation

Walmart and Litecoin have officially stated that the news of their collaboration is fake.

GlobeNewswire came out Monday morninga press release stating that starting October 1, the world's largest wholesale and retail chain Walmart plans to allow its customers to pay for purchases with litecoins. The news spread quickly and led to a 30% jump in LTC, as well as a 1.8% rise in Bitcoin.

However, soon Litecoin creator Charlie Lee and Walmart representatives publicly stated that they knew nothing aboutthis press release because it is bogus. The rebuttal quickly cooled the fuse of the market, and gradually the prices returned to their previous levels.

Even publications such as Reuters and CNBC weremisled by retweeting the Litecoin Foundation of a fake press release, which was then deleted. In addition, earlier Walmart made it clear that in the future it plans to use digital assets in its activities. In 2019, the company filed a patent application for its own dollar-pegged cryptocurrency.
