Vitalik Buterin: “Google's quantum computer poses no threat to Bitcoin”

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin expressed the opinion that the threat to cryptocurrencies posed byGoogle’s quantum computer is overrated.

"I believe that the superiority of quantuma computer is like a hydrogen bomb for nuclear fusion. Proof that it is possible to extract energy from it is still far from actual use,” Buterin wrote on the social network Twitter.

Earlier, a similar point of view was expressed by cryptocurrency enthusiast Andreas Antonopoulos:

“How does this affect mining and cryptocurrencies in general? If we talk about the quantum computer Google, then it solves some problems of certain types. And these types of problems generally do not correspond to the tasks of cryptography, ”said Antonopoulos.

Additionally, in September, cryptographer and Bitcoin Core developer Peter Todd expressed his opinion that a quantum computer does not threaten the cryptography algorithms on which Bitcoin is based.
