The Danish company Vestas has unveiled a new wind turbine with the highest rated power, rotor diameter and wind section to date.
The giant structure is equipped with innovativea 15 MW turbine and a 236-meter rotor with a rotation area of 43,743 m2. According to Vestas, the V236-15.0MW offshore wind turbine will be able to produce about 80 GWh of electricity per year, which is enough to power 20,000 European homes and prevent 38 tons of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.
Manufacturerclaims that optimizing constructiveThe synergy of the generator has made it possible to significantly increase its efficiency compared to other models, therefore, to reduce the cost of generated energy for future projects.
The first 15 MW wind turbine is to be installed in 2022, and from 2024 it is planned to launch serial production. Customers will be able to submit their applications from 2021.
