US Senate Voting for Blockchain

US Senate Voting for Blockchain

U.S. Senate staffers on the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations hunting for technology toto maintain the legislative position in the chamber during crises, they organized a vote for the blockchain in the April 30 memorandum on the "continuity of the Senate."

A few days before the Senate's planned return from its COVID-19 break, a 29-page note was proposed.

Blockchain-based solutions have been included in the list of offers.

The Senate could consider blockchain if its 100 members vote remotely, staff write. They also proposed voting on a military-style end-to-end encryption platform.

Blockchain is perhaps the most controversial technology when it comes to remote voting. Last year, researchers already called the platform unsafe and prone to error.

Representatives of the committee did not share the fears of researchers.

“Although some have expressed concern about the use of online voting systems, these problems are more specific to secret elections than to open votes in the Senate,” they wrote.

This is not to say that the “blockchain” of the Senate would becompletely secure blockchain. Employees were keenly afraid of the “51 percent attack” scenario, in which an attacker seized consensus power by taking majority control over the voting chain.

Assuming what can be prevented51 percent attack, as well as eliminate any errors, cryptographic or others, employees were optimistic when voting for the blockchain in the Senate. They wrote that this adds transparency and reduces the risk of incorrect vote counts.

“Thanks to the encrypted distributed blockchain book, you can both safely transmit your voice and verify the correctness of voting,” the note says.
