US authorities warned crypto companies about the risks of attacks by hackers from the DPRK

The U.S. government argues that North Korean hackers can attack more than justblockchain projects, but also investors in cryptocurrencies.

Crypto companies are threatened by hacker groups, which are sponsored by the North Korean authorities, the US government claims. A warning about this was posted on the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Agency (CISA) website.

In a communication prepared jointly with the FBI andThe Ministry of Finance mentions the groups Lazarus, APT3, BlueNoroff and Stardust Chollima. According to the US authorities, North Korean hackers pose a permanent serious threat.

Hackers can attack crypto exchanges, DeFi protocols, GameFi projects, venture capital companies, CISA warned. Private investors are also at risk, the statement said.

According to US authorities, hacker groupsuse various methods when attacking crypto companies. In particular, these include phishing and social engineering. Malicious applications infect computer systems in order to steal cryptocurrencies.

Last week, the US imposed sanctions against the Lazarus Group. The Ministry of Finance has blacklisted an Ethereum wallet owned by the group.

At the same time, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced the involvement of the Lazarus Group and another APT3 hacker group in the theft of the Ethereum cryptocurrency for $620 million.

In March, the Ronin blockchain bridge was hacked, from whichwithdrew a cryptocurrency worth over $625 million. Attackers exploited the vulnerability on March 23, but the problem was discovered only on March 29, when one of the users was unable to withdraw 5 thousand Ethereum.

The Ronin hack is currently the largest in decentralized finance. It surpassed the previous record theft of 93.7k Ethereum from the Wormhole protocol which occurred in February.
