On Wednesday, September 25, auction house Wilsons will begin a 24-hour online auction for the sale of cryptocurrency worthabout £500,000 confiscated by the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) of the UK police.
Lots with BTC will be present at the auction,in addition, cryptocurrencies Zcash (ZEC), Stratis (STRAT), Civic (CVC), OmiseGo (OMG), Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin SV (BSV) will also be exposed in a smaller amount.
Cryptocurrency to be sold onauction, was seized during a criminal investigation and represents the proceeds of hacking and illegal sales of personal data on the Internet.
This year Wilsons, the largest independentan auction house in the UK, set a record for cryptocurrency sales by the government, including selling Monero coins to British law enforcement in January, as well as selling a large number of BTC coins confiscated by the Belgian government in February.
Speaking at the last auction, Director ofWilsons asset recovery Aidan Larkin said that by auctioning confiscated cryptocurrency, Wilsons not only helps the state, but also provides investors with a new and safe way to obtain digital assets, eliminating the risks associated with trading on unregulated currency exchanges.
