Uber Will Start Accepting Cryptocurrency Payments When Transactions Get Cheaper

According to Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, the company will start accepting payments in cryptocurrency anyway, but is waiting for the industry to reach a certain level of development.

In an interview with Bloomberg, he stated that the company closely monitors the industry, in particular bitcoin, and considers digital currencies valuable as a store of value.

According to Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber is interested in accepting cryptocurrencies, but is not taking this step due to the high cost of microtransactions and the high energy consumption of the mining process. He also said thatas soon as fees decrease and emission becomes more environmentally friendly, the company will definitely begin to consider the inclusion of digital currencies in the list of payment methods.

Adding that Uber does not want to create speculation around this topic or expose everything as an advertisement, but will simply do it when the time is right and if there is a business benefit in it.

The company had previously considered investing in bitcoin, but abandoned the idea due to volatility.

Let us recall that recently Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk also criticized the current development trends of Web 3.0 due to the adjustment of project activities to generally accepted centralized rules.
