TikTok advertises crypto products in a number of prohibited topics

This week on Friday, TikTok announced that certain types of advertising on the platform will be prohibited, including contentcryptocurrencies were included in the list of prohibited topics.

“According to TikTok’s branded content policy, the promotion of all financial services and products is now prohibited worldwide,” says the FT Adviser article.

In 2020, TikTok kept the buzz around Dogecoin (DOGE), while users were sharing videos in an attempt to attract more investment.

We see a huge amount of thisbranded content on TikTok, usually from poorly informed creators who lure followers with promises of wealth, but actually make money from them 7;.

It is not clear whether the ban of TikTok is being extended to discussions of all financial products or only to those who carry a promotional character.

In 2018, Google banned ads for cryptocurrencies, although this year certain messages were made for individual organizations.
