Protocol Podcast Host EricSaviks lost all his savings in bitcoin, which he was saving to buy an apartment. The caring community managed to collect one sixth of the stolen goods within 24 hours, writes Cryptopotato.

On June 10, Savix downloaded a fake extensionGoogle Chrome for storing cryptocurrencies Keep Key. He was not embarrassed by the program's requirement to enter the seed phrase from the wallet. Thus, the hackers transferred all Savix's 12 BTC (about $ 120,000 at the time of the theft) to their account.

"I have been building my position for seven years and planned to use these funds to buy an apartment," the user wrote.

He turned to the kidnapper with a request to return the bitcoins to the specified wallet address, adding that he did not have much hope for this.

Nevertheless, the host's tweet was noticed in the community. During the day, 92 transactions were received at his bitcoin address.

At the time of this writing, the address contained about 0.78 BTC (over $ 7100).

Eric Savix said that he will not spend the funds donated to him and will definitely refund them if he manages to return the stolen bitcoins.

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao drew attention to the problem.

He promised to blacklist the address of the scammers on the marketplace.

Recall that in December 2019, the Kraken exchange found a vulnerability in KeepKey wallets that allows retrieving seed phrases in less than 15 minutes.
