The State Duma announced plans to limit investment in cryptocurrency

Russian deputies will develop legislative norms that will limit the possibility of unqualifiedinvestors to invest in digital assets.

Deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation need to registerlegal restrictions on investments in cryptocurrencies and digital assets for unqualified investors. Anatoly Aksakov, head of the Duma Committee on the Financial Market, told Interfax about this at the International Conference on the Protection of the Rights of Consumers of Financial Services. According to Aksakov, cryptocurrencies are a new financial instrument and quite difficult for an unskilled investor.

“Digital assets are the topic of our closeattention, and here we will look at how to protect our citizens as much as possible when investing in digital currencies and digital assets, ”the deputy noted.

In July of this year, the Bank of Russia recommendedRussian stock exchanges should not allow financial instruments based on digital assets to trade. Also, the regulator did not recommend including such assets in mutual funds.
