In 2021, with the rise in the price of bitcoin, the number of gray crypto miners also increased - by as much as 40% compared to the previous year.Among the pirated software, the leader was CoinHelper.The miner, focused on users from the CIS, not only increaseselectricity bills and wear and tear on equipment, but also collects sensitive information from devices. 

Experts found that the total monetary profit of the CoinHelper miner was $339,694.86. 

The company's findings also point todistribution of adware, phishing from pseudo-tech support. Forcing users to believe in a serious technical problem, fraudsters obtained remote access to the system.

Despite this, Avast reported a 28% reduction in ransomware risk ratio compared to Q3 2021.
