The first space Bitcoin transaction was successful.

During the recent Asia Blockchain Summit 2020Pixelmatic CEO and Blockstream CEO Samson Mau gave legendary Canadian astronaut Colonel Chris Hadfield his first Bitcoin from space via the Blockstream satellite.

For this particular transaction Samsonand his team at Blockstream first sent a signal to Blockstream satellites in geosynchronous orbit (Telstar 11N, Galaxy 18, Eutelsat 113), which were then broadcast to users to relay the transaction to the bitcoin network via terrestrial internet. Through this process, Samson was able to send $ 100 worth of bitcoin to Colonel Chris Hadfield's wallet. The entire transaction was streamed live at the Asia Blockchain Summit, and this is the first time the commander of the International Space Station has received Bitcoin.
