Hal Finney was the first to receive a transaction on the networkBitcoin as part of its testing, and was also the first to mine BTC. It is known that he personally communicated with Satoshi Nakamoto and worked on the project with him. He is also credited with creating proof of work technology - the Proof-of-Work protocol. Hal Finney himself never called himself the creator of the first cryptocurrency.

In 2014, shortly before his death, he wrote about his first experience with BTC:

“As soon as Satoshi launched the software releasesecurity, I immediately connected. Probably, it was I who was the first person, not counting Nakamoto himself, who was involved in the launch of bitcoin. I mined about the 70th block and became the recipient of the first bitcoin transaction.”

This transaction was the only operation that was carried out personally by the creator of Bitcoin.

Despite communication and joint activities, the personality of Satoshi Nakamoto remained mysterious for Finney: he was “a very smart and sincere young man of Japanese origin” for him.

Hal Finney did not initially assess the potentialbitcoin, understanding came only in 2010, after the first exchange of cryptocurrency for dollars, when Laszlo Heinitz bought two pizzas for 10,000 BTC.
