Tether and Bitfinex again ask to postpone the transfer of documents to the prosecutor

iFinex Inc asks for another 30 days to collect documents for the Attorney General of NewYork.

iFinex Inc, a subsidiary of Bitfinex and Tether, has sent a request to the New York Supreme Court to postpone the deadline for submitting documents. 

As a reminder, the process of collecting documents had toend on January 15th. Tether's attorney Charles Michael said the company had already transferred “a significant amount of material” to the attorney general’s office, but it still needed to track down some “key documents.”

In April 2019, the New York prosecutor's office accusedBitfinex in an effort to hide its $ 850 million loss from an illegal loan from Tether. In addition, the defendants are being charged with unreported sales of securities.

An investigation by human rights defendersshowed that only 74% of the USDT stablecoin is backed by the dollar. Despite this, Tether continues to print new stablecoins, the total supply of which has already surpassed $ 24 billion.
