Telegram proposed to list pirated resources

The Russian Association for the Protection of Copyright on the Internet (AZAPI) sent a letter to the Securities Exchange CommissionSecurities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a division of the US Treasury, which asked to add the Telegram messenger to the list of pirated resources. This was reported by Izvestia.

“We see that the number of copyright infringements is growing in Telegram, and the messenger’s leadership is passive and applies only temporary and very soft sanctions to malicious violators,”AZAPI stated.

The Association also pays special attention to the Telegram Open Network blockchain platform, over the launch of which Telegram is already in dispute with the SEC.

AZAPI believes that with the company’s release of its own digital currency, fraudsters will have a convenient tool for generating income from the sale of pirated content and other illegal actions.

“The advent of Gram will allow channel owners in the messenger to sell ads, subscriptions to pirated content, create private groups and much more completely anonymously”, - the letter says.

Recall that AZAPI has already warned Telegram that it will turn to regulators if the company does not go to a meeting in the fight against pirated content. The messenger team did not respond to the appeal.
