The Russian Internet Copyright Association (AZAPI) sent a letter to the Commission on Valuable Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a unit of the U.S. Treasury Department, which asked to add Telegram messenger to the list of pirated resources. This is reported by Izvestia.
“We see that the number of copyright infringements is growing in Telegram, and the messenger’s leadership is passive and applies only temporary and very soft sanctions to malicious violators,” declared in AZAPI.
The Association also pays special attention to the Telegram Open Network blockchain platform, about the launch of which Telegram is already in dispute with the SEC.
Azapi believes that with the release of its own digital currency, fraudsters will receive a convenient tool for generating income from the sale of pirated content and other illegal actions.
“The advent of Gram will allow channel owners in the messenger to sell ads, subscriptions to pirated content, create private groups and much more completely anonymously”, - the letter says.
Recall that AZAPI has already warned Telegram that it will turn to regulators if the company does not go to a meeting in the fight against pirated content. The messenger team did not respond to the appeal.
