State Duma: cryptocurrency law may be passed in March

The Bank of Russia and the competent authorities were able to resolve disagreements regarding the legalization of a new type of assets,said the head of the Duma committee on the financial market Anatoly Aksakov.

Digital Financial Assets Act may beadopted next month, said Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma’s financial market committee. He noted that the government managed to resolve disagreements regarding this document, RIA Novosti reports.

“For digital financial assets, unfortunately,Conflicting views between the Bank of Russia and the competent authorities… Unfortunately, until recently it was not possible to resolve the differences. Last week there was another meeting, it seems that positions were agreed upon. Now a text is being prepared, and if the relevant institutions, the Central Bank and the competent authorities, the legal department support this text after distribution, then in March, I believe, we can come up with such a bill for consideration in the second and third readings,” Aksakov said.

Earlier, he said that with a high degree of probabilitythe bill should be adopted in the spring session of the State Duma. The document has been considered for about two years, but disagreements in the government regarding the legalization of cryptocurrencies impede adoption.
