Russian law enforcement agencies have opened a criminal investigation against the directorregional office of Russian Post in Mineralnye Vody.
Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) in Stavropolsuspects the former head of the post office in the illegal installation of “professional mining equipment” and the extraction of cryptocurrencies from the company's electricity network. The suspect began to mine cryptocurrencies at a state-owned enterprise in September 2019.
According to local authorities, the post office suffered losses of 30,000 rubles.
The suspect will be charged under Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official powers). At the moment, the Investigative Committee is still collecting evidence in the case.
Recall that this year the case of underground cryptocurrency mining was transferred to the Ukrainian court by an ex-official of the Lviv Railway.
