Shopify adds support for cryptocurrency payments

Canadian e-commerce platform Shopify has partnered with CoinPayments. This will allow usersplatform for enterprises to accept payments in cryptocurrencies.

According to Shopify, whichServing more than a million businesses in 175 countries, the partnership with CoinPayments will allow platform merchants to receive payment in cryptocurrencies. Shopify tested CoinPayments' solution last year before rolling it out on the platform.

According to the terms of the partnership, companies will be able toreceive payments in any of the 1,800 cryptocurrencies supported by CoinPayments. The new initiative will help Shopify merchants make fast cross-border payments and eliminate the need to work with multiple payment processors in different jurisdictions around the world. CoinPayments CEO Jason Butcher said:

“By combining our easy to useA global cryptocurrency payment platform with an extensive base of Shopify merchants, we want to simplify the processes for everyone who wants to conduct a business using cryptocurrencies. We believe that our joint decision is the future of payments for business. ”

Earlier this year, Shopify teamed up with startupReal Items Foundation has beta tested a new VeChain blockchain plugin and TAM cloud application to verify the authenticity of tokenized goods.
