Scientists have found a way to turn agricultural waste into laundry detergent

An international group of researchers has developed a technology for the production of the main component of washing powders and detergents from agricultural waste.

Lipase is the second largest commercial enzyme by production and is used in a variety of industries to create a variety of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and detergents.Every year, thousands of tons of lipase are used as additives for laundry detergents because it helpsdissolve oil stains without damaging the fabric, and do notharms the environment.

The only problem is complexityenzyme production due to the high cost of raw materials. However, a team of researchers has developed an inexpensive, natural version of lipase derived from mustard cake remaining after extracting oil from seeds.

The cake contains a fairly large amount of protein and some nutrients, so scientists used it as a substrate for the growth of microorganisms that produce the desired enzyme.

Studies have shown that the resultinglipase is stable and resistant to almost all chemical detergents, as well as conventional washing powders. Therefore, it can be included in their composition.

Recall that earlier scientists also proposed an effective way to convert grain waste from breweries into fuel.
