The town of Rockdale in Texas continues to attract miners - Japanese holdings SBI Holdings and GMO Internet are planninguse the largest data center in this city.
Japanese companies deploy miningactivity on the site, which is being built by the German company Northern Bitcoin AG and Whinstone. Already in the 1st quarter of 2020, a mining farm with a capacity of 300 MW will be launched, and by the end of this year the capacity will be increased to 1 GW.
Rockdale attracts miners thanks to cheapelectricity. In Texas, already 20% of the energy is generated by wind power plants, and this figure for the first time in history exceeded the percentage of generation from coal-fired power plants.
In November 2019, the Rockdale Mining Centerlaunched the company Bitmain. At the same time, although the Bitmain farm occupies much larger areas than the Northern Bitcoin AG site, its capacity is only 50 MW. On the Bitmain farm, 15,000 ASIC miners were installed on the opening day.
