Russian experts announced an increase in cases of hidden mining on computers of government agencies

In Russia, attackers are increasingly using the computing resources of government agencies and large companies tohidden cryptocurrency mining. This was stated by Deputy Director of the National Coordination Center for Computer Incidents (NCCSC) Nikolai Murashov, Interfax reports.

«Cases of cryptocurrency mining withusing infected information resources of government organizations. In this case, attackers infect web pages, and mining is carried out while viewing them in a browser», —he said.

According to him, two citizens of the Russian Federation have already been prosecuted for such fraudulent acts against large organizations.

Murashov noted the vulnerability of Russian computers to mining attacks:

The deputy head of the NKTsKI also stated that this year there wereAbout 12 thousand “foreign information resources that were used by attackers to cause damage to our country” were blocked, and more than six thousand malicious sites — at the request of foreign partners.
