According to a statement by Bitcoin.com.au, local cryptocurrency exchange customers will be able to pay for bitcoin services in more than 3,500 post offices in Australia. The CEO of Holger Arians explained that the new payment method will find a positive response from many cryptocurrency users:

“For many people it’s more convenient to pay with bitcoin forservices at the post office, than doing online transfers. We are proud of this partnership and would like to thank Australia Post for its willingness to introduce new technologies. ”

This is not the first time Australia Post has showninterest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain. Back in 2016, it was reported that in hopes of modernizing its infrastructure, Australia Post turned its attention to blockchain, which it then planned to use to store identity information.

Australia Post — not the first postalservice that turned its attention to cryptocurrencies. Last year, Croatian Post announced a test launch of a cryptocurrency-to-cash exchange service in the city of Zadar. The service was provided in partnership with Electrocoin. Additionally, Liechtenstein's postal service Post AG started selling Bitcoin early last year.
