Opposition in El Salvador demanded to recognize the legalization of BTC illegal

Against the decision of the country’s President Nayib Bukele, who gave the main cryptocurrency the statusofficial means of payment, filed a lawsuit. The document says that the actions of the head of state are contrary to the constitution.

Member of Parliament of El Salvador Jamie Guevara fromthe opposition party Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front, together with a group of like-minded people, filed a lawsuit demanding to declare the presidential decree on the legalization of bitcoin unconstitutional, writes El Mundo. The lawsuit states that the decision of the El Salvadorian authorities to recognize the main cryptocurrency as a means of payment is contrary to the constitution, and can also become disastrous for the country's economy.

One of the plaintiffs, Oscar Artero, claims that the lawon the recognition of bitcoin as a means of payment is aimed at "robbing the population." According to him, the country's authorities want to force residents to trade cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin was officially recognized as a means of payment on June 9th. The corresponding decision was made by the country's parliament. Then the document was signed by the head of state Nayib Bukele.

According to the law, prices in El Salvador caninstalled in bitcoins, it will also be possible to pay tax deductions in cryptocurrency. The bitcoin exchange will not be subject to capital gains tax, while bitcoins will be exchanged for dollars (the main currency in El Salvador) at the market rate.
