The University of Cambridge's Center for Alternative Finance (CCAF) has launched a Bitcoin mining map.The new map shows the average monthly hash rate of each individual country.
The map is based on information providedpools ViaBTC, Poolin and BTC.com. According to the university, the new service is the first to offer information on the geographic distribution of BTC hashrate.
The map shows that most of the hashing power (65.08%) is concentrated in China.
It is worth noting that the US hashrate, which occupiessecond place on the list, about nine times smaller – 7.24%. Following the USA are Russia – 6.90%, Kazakhstan – 6.17% and Malaysia – 4.33%. Collectively, all other countries account for 6.5% of Bitcoin's hashrate.
There are two maps on the website – global hashrate and China hashrate. More than half of China's Bitcoin mining occurs in the Xinjiang region – 35.76% of the total global hashrate.
Recall that against the backdrop of halving in 2020, which is less than a week away, the bitcoin hash rate has begun to reach new records.
