Nike received a patent for a blockchain system for digitizing shoes

U.S. Patent and Trademark Office grants Nike a patent for a blockchain system developed by to create a digital version of shoes.

Customers will have the opportunityregister purchased shoes by identification number in a distributed database. After that, in the cryptocurrency wallet of the product owner, an electronic version of the product will be created, tied to the user ID. It will contain the cryptographic token issued on the Ethereum Digital Asset (ETH) blockchain and product information (color, material, manufacturer).

People who registered the purchase will be able to confirm the authenticity of the product and will have access to two functions:

  1. sale of shoes;
  2. customization of design.

Customization will work as follows: two network users combine digital versions of their products and create a new product based on the characteristics of prototypes. The authors of the model have the right to set a limit on the number of shoes released to make them unique. Nike employees are going to produce tangible versions of some digital “hybrids”.
