Scientists have developed recyclable reusable face masks that continue to protect effectively even after prolonged use and repeated washing.
Due to the huge demand for personal care productsThere is a strong shortage of protection, which leads to limited sales and limited issuance. However, most masks are disposable and quickly become unusable. To solve this problem, researchers from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology created a new nanofilter thatcan be used as a reusable face mask.
It consists of fibers with a diameter of 100-500 nm,located in orthogonal or unidirectional directions, retaining 80% of particles with a size of 600 nm. According to scientists, one such mask can be used safely for a month after soaking in ethanol.
Besides the fact that such a filter for a long timepurifies air from small particles, it is waterproof and retains more than 94% of its effectiveness after 20 washes or bactericidal treatments. However, it does not deform and remains strong even after 4000 bends.
Let us recall that earlier researchers also developed a “smart” patch for healing chronic wounds.
