Most alien civilizations are long dead, according to new calculations by scientists

According to recent calculations of researchers, most of the alien civilizations of our galaxy have already destroyed themselves long ago.

A group of physicists from CaliforniaInstitute of Technology has developed an updated version of the Drake equation used to statistically estimate the likelihood of intelligent life. Scientists have added to the distribution factors the propensity of developed beings to self-destruct.

In their work, they also took into account the proportion of star systems similar to the sun, the frequency of deadly supernova explosions and the timenecessary for the development of intelligent life infavorable conditions. Modeling showed that the greatest likelihood of the development of civilizations falls on the ring about 13 thousand light years from the center of the Milky Way and 8 billion years after its formation.

The Earth is 25 thousand light years distant, and intelligent life emerged only 13.5 billion years after the formation of the galaxy (although the simplest forms appeared much earlier).

Given the likelihood of the death of intelligent life inAs a result of war, nuclear disasters, changes in climatic conditions or other destructive events, physicists have come to the conclusion that most of them have long disappeared. Therefore, if there are currently other alien civilizations in the Milky Way, then most likely they are young.
