The authorities of the Chinese province of Sichuan asked mining companies to limit energy consumption in the dry season.
In the southwestern part of China there are severalhydropower plants that generate enough electricity during the rainy season, however, in the dry season, which lasts from October to April, electricity generation is reduced. Therefore, in order to provide more important consumers, Sichuan authorities asked mining companies to limit energy consumption.
Mining is not welcomed in Chinacompanies, however, during the rainy season more electricity is generated than necessary, so farms are usually not regulated. But in the dry season, electricity is enough only for the local population and a more traditional business.
Previously reported that Chinese regulatorsplan to tighten supervision of mining companies. Last week, Hebei Province authorities confiscated nearly 7,000 ASIC miners for mining Bitcoin illegally connected to power grids. In the future, similar raids will also be conducted, the purpose of which is to eradicate the theft of electricity.
