Millionaire is suspected of killing his wife, previously demanded a ransom for her in Monero

70-year-old billionaire Tom Hagen, who appears on the list of the richest people in Norway, was chargedaccusation of involvement in the murder of his wife.

The wife of Tom Hagen disappeared from the house on the lake in the morning in October 2018. In the house, law enforcement officers discovered traces of the fight and the demand for ransom kidnappers in the amount of € 9 million in the Monero cryptocurrency.

Last year, the press reported that Hagen paid the kidnappers the millions they demanded, but his wife never returned. 

After two years of investigation, the police failed.find Ann Elizabeth Hagen and began to suspect the millionaire of falsifying the abduction. According to law enforcers, the threats left in the family’s house were an attempt to mislead the investigation.

Tom Hagen, originally from Hadeland, earned hisinitial fortune in real estate trading, and later – thanks to the construction of the Kvitfjel ski center. In addition, Hagen owns 70 percent of the electrical company Elkraft. Hagen's personal fortune is estimated at almost NOK 2 billion.

Tom Hagen faces a court hearing and will spend four weeks in pre-trial detention while the investigation continues.
