Microsoft plans to create a new cryptocurrency, which will be mined using the PoW algorithm, and from the processexpensive energy-intensivemining installations. If this sounds strange to you, you should look into the details of the patent filed by Microsoft. It's called "Cryptocurrency System Using Body Activity Data."
According to the patent, Microsoft's cryptocurrency will use body activity data. It allows people to mine cryptocurrency without the need for ASIC miners.
It sounds a little creepy, but if you succeedIf you accept the idea of connecting people to some server that monitors their energy level, then you realize that this can be an effective way to mine cryptocurrencies without harming the environment.
How it works?
Microsoft says that the "activity of the human body" necessary for cryptocurrency mining is a fairly simple process:
«Brain wave or body heat emitteduser (when the user performs a task, such as viewing an advertisement or using certain Internet services), can be used in the mining process».
The rest of the document states that this viewactivities will replace the “massive computing work” that is currently required for some traditional cryptocurrency systems. This is due to the fact that data obtained from the activity of the body can be considered as Proof of Work:
«Consequently, the user can solve a complex computational problem unconsciously».
The patent states that certain taskswill decrease or increase computational energy depending on the type of activity. A cryptocurrency system that uses data on the activity of the human body is likely to work through a server that issues a command to a wearable device.
Cryptocurrency system communicatively associated witha user device, can check whether the body activity data satisfies one or more conditions established by the cryptocurrency system, and provide the cryptocurrency to the user whose body activity data is verified.
At this stage, Microsoft does not explain whether the new cryptocurrency will be based on any particular blockchain or whether the software giant will create its own platform.
