Michael Saylor Calls Sam Bankman-Fried "The Crypto Wolf of Wall Street"

Michael Saylor called Sam Bankman-Fried the “cryptocurrency wolf of Wall Street.”

​​​Former MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor believes that the story of the FTX trading platform could inspire filmmakers to create a film like The Wolf of Wall Street.

According to Michael Saylor,FTX executive Sam Bankman-Fried collaborated with corrupt legislators to grow his business and political support. Bankman-Fried tried to influence them by bribing certain individuals, but in the end he only turned regulators against Bitcoin and the entire cryptocurrency industry, says Saylor. 

He compared the FTX CEO toJordan Belfort, nicknamed “The Wolf of Wall Street,” hinted to Hollywood directors about the possibility of making a film about Bankman-Fried called “King of Cryptography.”

"I think FTX's troubles and fallthe cryptocurrency market will increase regulatory intervention. In some ways, Bankman-Fried is like Jordan Belfort, only in the era of cryptocurrencies. I wouldn’t be surprised if “The Wolf of Wall Street” is followed by a movie called “King of Cryptography,” Sailor said.

Jordan Belfort is a former broker who lefttwo-year prison sentence for stock market manipulation. After his release, he began traveling the world as a motivational speaker. Belfort became even more popular in 2013 when he was played by famous actor Leonardo DiCaprio in the film of the same name directed by Martin Scorsese, The Wolf of Wall Street.

FTX exchange on the verge of bankruptcygenerated a lot of negativity towards Bankman-Fried. Billionaire Elon Musk turned him down from a deal to finance the purchase of Twitter because he doubted his willingness to invest. The CEO of the Kraken exchange, Jesse Powell, also criticized Bankman-Fried, saying that he entered into multimillion-dollar transactions only to stroke his ego.
