Miami Mayor Francis Suarez plans to make the city a cryptocurrency hub. Soon the municipal staffMiami will be able to receive salaries in bitcoins rather than US dollars.
Suarez announced that the City of Miamiplans to use Bitcoin in three different areas. The first one – wages in bitcoins instead of dollars for municipal employees. Officials themselves will be able to choose in which currency to receive their salaries.
Secondly, citizens living in Miami will be able to pay taxes and utility bills using BTC.
Thirdly, cryptocurrency is seen as a tool for storing value. Suarez explained that part of Miami's budget could be invested in Bitcoin.
In addition, the mayor is already collaborating with cryptocurrency bank Avanti to develop a digital asset legalization bill.
